Global Sustainability Scholars program trains and supports rising young professionals from diverse backgrounds, disciplines, and worldviews. Partnered with the National Science Foundation, Future Earth, and the Belmont Forum — the program fosters professional development of a new generation of scientists, who represent diversity of today’s sustainability science and innovation. Working with the internal design team at EVRYBDY Design Group as well as the director of the program, I assisted in creating the brand identity and front-end development of the website.
Inspired by innovation and progressive thinking, our visual theme is eye-catching and bold. Shapes and graphics are irregular and asymmetrically aligned used as garnishes over photography and type. Tone is another activated element throughout the brand – coming across as factual and informed. The Logo first came about as an infographic originally intended to help visualize the lack of minority professionals working in sustainable science. I then understood how much of a versatile mark it could translate into. Using two overlapping hexagons, the shape formed in the middle represents the new generation of diversity in science.
